JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY, THE
Diabetes Research and Training Center This application is in response to the National Institutes of Health Notice NOT-OD-09-056 (administrative supplement for Research Center Grants). The Baltimore DRTC requests supplemental funding of programs that will benefit its ongoing mission to understand and treat diabetes and related diseases in children and adults. The request includes: 1) One additional two-year Pilot and Feasibility (P&F) grant; 2) Equipment to facilitate research in the Cell Biology, Physiology, Clinical and Genetics Cores; and 3) Short term technical support to speed productivity and discovery in the Cell Biology and Physiology Cores. Given that the Baltimore DRTC is newly funded, some services have been more heavily utilized than previously predicted and some new services have been added to service demand. Funding of this request will directly benefit the Aims of the parent grant and provide for both job creation by purchases of scientific equipment and employment of technical staff as well as faculty retention and dvelopment by funding of the P & F proposal.

Diabetes Research and Training Center This is a grant for equipment and two years of Pilot and Feasibliity grants. All equipment by JHU purchased and invoiced. The equipment has been purchased by UMD 10006006 (Cell Biology Core 29,899 Plate Reader from Perkin Elmer), (Genetics Core 9,000 -80 Freezer from Sanyo), (Clinical Core 4,529 -80 Sanyo Freezer, and 2,054 -80 LN2 backup factory installed in Sanyo freezer), and invoices have been received by JHU. The first P&F to Silver at UMD was nce'd through January 31, 2011 and is 50% expended and will be nce'd again through August 31, 2011. The second P&F grant was awarded to Sara DiVall on an accelerated schedule (September10-August11) as she recently had her IRB approved. PnF subcontracts to Silver and Divall and McArdle are invoicing. This project has ended and the final FFR has been submitted and accepted. |
