AUT. FINANCIAMIENTO DE LA VIVIENDA
The Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP) will fill financing gaps caused by the reduction of equity investment in the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. TCAP will provide gap financing for the construction or rehabilitation of affordable housing projects affected by the deteriorating housing market. The Recovery Act requires housing credit agencies to distribute TCAP funds competitively, in accordance with the Agency’s Qualified Allocation Plan. This Plan can be found at www.bgfpr.com. Projects awarded low income housing tax credits in fiscal years 2007, 2008, or 2009 were eligible for funding, but PRHFA gave priority to those projects that were expected to be completed by February 2012.

TCAP funds will assist 11 projects throughout Puerto Rico resulting in 1,339 units of affordable rental housing. The 11 projects receiving TCAP funding are: Panorma Gold Apt (Bayamon-PR), Central American Village (Mayaguez-PR), Santa Rosa Elderly Apts. (Rincon-PR), Monserrate Elderly II (Hormigueros-PR), Golden Living Cidra (Cidra-PR), Golden Living Barceloneta (Barceloneta-PR), Cecilia Orta (Carolina-PR), Laderas del Rio Elderly Plaza (Bayamon-PR), Jardin de las Catalinas (Caguas-PR), Las Piedras Elderly Plaza (Las Piedras-PR) y Jardin de Santa Maria (Mayaguez-PR).
As of February 15, 2012 the grant of $44,646,082 was committed and expended among the 11 projects and all the construction work was completed. Only one project is still under occupancy: Las Piedras Elderly Plaza. All the other projects are completed and occupied resulting in 1,216 of units and assisted families in Bayamon, Mayaguez, Rincon, Hormigueros, Carolina, Barceloneta, Cidra and Caguas. No program income was expended. |
