Supplemental Community Services Block Grant funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provided expanded programs and services for 14,304 low-income Vermonters through the state's five designated Community Action Agencies. Local Community Action programs addressed local issues of employment; education; income management; housing; emergency services; nutrition; and aconomic self-sufficiency. Funds were used for: staffing of local programs; direct assistance to clients; purchase of program equipment such as kitchen appliances for a culinary training program; staff training; and local administration. The state used no CSBG-ARRA funding for its administration of the grant. Benefit Enrollment Cooridination: One percent of the state's CSBG-ARRA funding was used for statewide benefit enrollment coordination. This involved the purchase of computers and peripheral equipment for distribution to local non-profit agencies to assist clients enrolling for benefits on the state's benefits web portal. This funding was also used for marketing to make the public aware of the program; and printing/postage to distribute educational flyers to current consumers. |
