Head Start 2009 ARRA COLA Quality Improvement funding will be used to increase Head Start Salaries and Fringe Benefits for 226 staff over a 12 month period and will be given in the form of a stipend in addition to their regular salaries. We will also improve the qualifications, skills and expertise by providing professional development through Family Development Credentialing which consists of a 12 week training that will enhance the effectiveness of Family Support and Education staff who play a critical role in the development and implementation of the partnership process that occurs between Head Start staff and families. The training uses Competency Goals and Indicators to improve the development of those staff that work directly with families. Staff attending the training will be paid salary and benefits for their hours of training plus compensation for an additional 4 hours per week for completion of course work. A stipend of $500 will be given to each staff member upon successful completion of this Family Development Credentialing course.
