HIGHWAY & TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY, PUERTO RICO
This grant will allow to purchase three (3) Trolleys, Two (2) Paratransit Vans and the Engineering, Design and Acquisition of 20 Passenger Shelters for the Municipality of Ceiba and One (1) Trolley and Two (2) Paratransit Vans for the Municipality of Naguabo. As a result of this investment, these municipalities will be able to offer public transportation service that is safer, more reliable, more environmentally friendly, and more accessible for people with disabilities.

Invest in Public Transportation by Purchasing of Four (4) Trolleys, Four (4) Paratransit Vans and the Engineering, Design, Acquisition and Instalation of 20 Passenger Shelters.
Naguabo - Paratransit vehicles were delivered to the municipality by the supplied. Also, the HTA refund the money at the municipality for by the paratransits vans. And, the Trolley bid process was on November 30, but none of the bidders meet the basic requirements of FTA. The municipality held another bid on May 30, 2012. They still are in the reviewing process of the proposals.
Ceiba - The bid for the Engineering, Design of 20 Passenger Shelters held on April 30, 2012. The contract was signed on June 14, 2012. FTA approved the paratransit vehicles and the trolleys budget revision. The bid for the vehicles held on June 2012. The municipality awarded the bid for two Trolley on July 24, 2012. Although, the municipality waited until September 12, 2012 for the FTA change in fuel for the Paratransit Vehicles approval. After the approval the municipality awarded the bid on September 17, 2012. The bid for the Acquisition and Installation of 20 Passenger Shelters held on September 12, 2012. The contract was signed on October 1, 2012. |

The Federal Transit Administration Recovery Act Grant was used to purchase of 1 trolley and 2 paratransit vehicle for the municipality of naguabo. Also, of the acquisition of 3 trolleys, 2 paratransit vehicles and design, engineering, acquisition and installation of passenger shelters for the municipality of Ceiba. As such, the projects funded under this grant will invest in transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefits. These investments will also contribute to preserving and maintaining jobs and promoting economic recovery in the vehicle manufacturing and construction industry. |
