WICHITA, CITY OF (INC)
HUD awarded Homelessness
Prevention and Rapid Re-
Housing Program (HPRP)
funds to cities to provide
financial assistance and
services to either prevent
individuals and families from
becoming homeless or help
those who are experiencing
homelessness to be quickly rehoused
and stabilized. The
City of Wichita allocated equal
amounts of its grant award to
prevention and rapid rehousing
assistance, each of
which is managed by a local
agency. There is a centralized
intake number and referrals are
made to the appropriate
agency for eligibility screening.
Once the agency determines
eligibility and calculates the
financial need, an email is sent
to the City where a team of five
persons reviews the
information and confirms or
denies assistance, or requests additional information or clarification. Funds cannot be expended by teh agencies until the City has approved the client's assistance. The program is in the final phase with applications being received from partner agencies.
