MILWAUKEE, CITY OF
The City of Milwaukee has received $6,912,159 as a result of the Homeless Prevention Fund of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This legislation was passed in part to provide assistance and services to either prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless or help those who are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized. The City of Milwaukee will utilize eight coordinated components for the activities of the HPRP plan: 1) Family Rapid Re-Housing; 2) Rapid Re-Housing for Youth Ages 18-25; Rapid Re-Housing for Single Adults; 4) Prevention of Homelessness Related to Foreclosure of Rental Units; 5) Legal Assistance to Prevent Eviction; 6) Landlord/Tenant Me-diation; 7) Direct Assistance for Eviction Prevention with Case Management; and 8) Data Collection and Evaluation.

This quarter: 97 Persons consisting of 52 Households were served under the category of Homelessness Prevention.
Grant to Date:4922 Persons consisting of 2,074 Households were served under the category of Homelessness Prevention.
This quarter: 121 Persons consisting of 50 Households were served under Homeless Assistance.
Grant to Date:1,017 Persons consisting of 632 Households were served under the category of Homelessness Assistance.

The Jobs created under HPRP include: Rapid Rehousing Case Managers, Case Managers, Housing Priority Coordinator, Accountant, College Intern, SOAR Coordinator. The positions created will directly expidite the processes of assistance to prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless or help those who are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized. In addition, the jobs created will give opportunities to idividuals seeking employment or transitioning from fields of employ affected by the economy. |
