TRANSPORTATION, WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF
Invest in nonurban and intercity public transportation programs by purchasing new buses, enhancing a transit station, constructing a maintenance/operation facility, purchasing and installing bus shelters and communications/security equipment. The grant provides for the purchase/construction of:
? Separate transit maintenance and operation facilities and a covered bus parking area;
? The partial funding and completion of a transit station with an adjoining park and ride lot;
? Purchase of 12 heavy duty transit coaches; 14 medium-duty, cutaway buses; 2 light-duty, cutaway buses and 4 vans; and new bus shelters, including two high-capacity shelters, and signage along statewide routes.
? Purchase of communication/security equipment for installation in a transit center and three separate transit bus fleets.
As a result of these investments, the transit agencies will be able to provide efficient, effective, convenient, environmentally friendly, accessible, and safe public transportation within and between their communities.

WSDOT's Intercity Bus shelters and signage project was awarded to Larry Brown Construction, Inc. of Bellingham, Washington. Construction began in mid-November and was completed in early December 2012. The final billing was submitted and paid in the first quarter of 2013. The project installed bus passenger waiting shelters and bus stop signage along four different intercity bus routes across Washington State; the Dungeness Line, Apple Line, Grape Line and Gold Line. In all, 20 bus stops were created; eight with bus passenger shelters and solar lighting. |
