ARRA Strengthening Communities Fund State, Local, and Tribal Government Capacity Building
This award is made to State.city,county,and Indian Native American Tribal governments capacity to partner with community based and faith based non-profits working to address the broad economic recovery issues present in thier communities,including helping low income individuals secure and retain employment,earn higher wages,obtain better quality jobs, and gain greater access to state and federal benefits and tax credits. Grantees use program funds to provide free capacity building services to non-profit organizations (e.g.,training and technical assistance) to help those organizations to better serve those in need and to increase nonprofit organizations involvment in the economic recovery. Grantees also use grant funds to build thier own capacity to provide such services for nonprofits.
