ARRA Strengthening Communities Fund State, Local, and Tribal Government Capacity Building This award is made to State.city,county,and Indian Native American Tribal governments capacity to partner with community based and faith based non-profits working to address the broad economic recovery issues present in thier communities,including helping low income individuals secure and retain employment,earn higher wages,obtain better quality jobs, and gain greater access to state and federal benefits and tax credits. Grantees use program funds to provide free capacity building services to non-profit organizations (e.g.,training and technical assistance) to help those organizations to better serve those in need and to increase nonprofit organizations involvment in the economic recovery. Grantees also use grant funds to build thier own capacity to provide such services for nonprofits.

Project Activities Description Native Americans
Quarterly Activities/Project Description Planning Staff retreat and workshop to enhance communication and skill building. Topics also covered were Strategic Planning, staff development, 5yr plan and 10yr plan. Held a Working with Adobe workshop to enhance staff skills with computers. Weekly staff meeting are now started to start communication between all staff and identify needs of the department. Monthly directors meeting to discuss what departments are doing and if there are any problems that need to be addressed. We have reached 25 organizations with capacity building. We have also completed 272 hours of technical assistance to programs within the tribe. We have provided training to 20 programs with 296 hours of completion.
