PIMA COUNTY
There are two projects under this award. The first one is the Catalina Community Services/Catalina Community Building in which funds will be used for the construction of the 4600 square foot community building that replaces the existing 2000 square foot building. The new facility will house a food bank and clotning bank, offices for the Pima County Health Department and multiuse rooms. The second project is the Amado Food Bank & Community Center in which funds will be used for the interior finishes of the community center addition.

Project 1: In this third quarter both the Catalina and Amado projects have been completed. The Catalina Community Services building is having their open house on Thursday, October 7, 2010. Catalina staff has moved in which includes the Executive Director, Program Coordinator, Bookkeeper, Administrative Receptionist, Assistant Program Coordinator for both the Food and Clothing Banks. Also located in the building is one staff member from Amphi Family Wellness Program and one staff from Arizona Youth
Partnership. The Pima County Health Center will officially open its offices there on October 1st., 2010. Services the Health department is providing currently are family planning and clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays and half a day on Fridays. Project 2: The Amado Community Food Bank/Community Center is completed. Staff continues to provide food bank services to residents in Amado and surrounding areas. The Community Center is now available to residents in Amado as well as for other events conducted by the food bank staff. |
