Quarterly Activities/Project Description There are five grant award projects: (1) Energy Conservation Corps for Green Job Training- The Energy Conservation Corps (ECC) program has provided training in weatherization and energy audits to 25 young adults (ages 18-25) thus far. The project was completed 1st quarter of 2011. (2)Traffic Signal Replacement with LED Technology- We installed a quantity of 141 Traffic Signals and a Quantity of 113 Pedestrian Signals. A total of 108 LED Street Light Fixtures were installed. This complete the light projects. (3)Green Roof - Roof assessments indicated no City owned properties are appropriate for the Green Roof given pitch or strength of roof or remaining life of roof. The city has decided to move forward with the Solar Thermal Hot Water Heater System. We received approval from DOE to proceed on September 27th, 2012. The bids were received on Oct 19th. The contract was awarded. Materials Ordered and received. This project was completed on March 18th. (4) Charleston Energy Efficiency Partnership and Financing Design- The work was completed by Abundant Power relative to their contract to provide consulting services for our residential and small commercial energy efficiency program. In the 3rd quarter of 2011 we completed the Commercial Market Demand Analysis. (5) Arthur W Christopher Community Center-Energy Efficiency Project- All Grant related activities are now complete. The dedication for Community Center was held on January 26th, it?s now open to the public. This project was completed in the 1st quarter of 2011. The project is complete, it came in under budget at $1,090,806.15, the remaining balance of $47,893.85 will not be used.

Description of Jobs Created Jobs created were in the Solar installation industry (Solar Installer and Solar Laborer). The Solar subcontractor added one new employee and was able to keep three more employed as a direct resut of this project. Since the project started the Solar installer has ben awarded several new jobs so new and existing employees will stay employed.
