Through our Increase Demand Services Grant, FHC has been able to hire two nurses full-time and contract for Nephrology and Ophtalmology services one session a month for both specialties. Previously Ophtalmology and Nephrology services were not accessible to persons with Medicaid or uninsured patients in the community. With the provision of this service at FHC, patients with Medicaid and who are uninsured can now have access to nephrology and opthalmology services when needed.

Project Activities Description Rural Health Services
Quarterly Activities/Project Description 2 FTEs nurses were hired who provide clinical services daily. The addition of these nursed have improve the patient flow and allowed for more patients to be attended to with less wait time. An Ophthalmologist and a Nephrologist provide services one session per month each. These services were greatly needed as this community has a high percentage of patients who suffer from hypertension and diabetes. These services were greatly needed but not accessible to patients who were underinsured or uninsured. Through the provision of services at Community Health Center, all patients regardless of income now have access to care.
