PHOTONIC GLASS CORPORATION
The purpose of this project is to develop ion beam surface modification techniques to reduce solar module glass rflectance and thereby increase solar energy conversion efficiency. Ion implantation of argon and other elements is investigated to create a layer of reduced index of refraction beneath the glass surface. This results in a lower relectance and may also have better endurance than conventional thin film coatings. The end result is a new technique that improves the electrical power output of a photovoltaic solar module.
