Quarterly Activities/Project Description Head Start Quality Improvement and COLA (ARRA) Brooklyn Head Start Program: COLA ARRA monies were distributed to employees on their paycheck as an economic stimulus during FY 2009-2010. Fifty percent of the Quality Improvement monies were allocated as an incentive to ten employess in the education area and one employee in the family and community partnership area. The other fifty percent of the Quality Improvement monies were used to enhance the teaching and learning process of the children through a movement activity program and the use of technology in the classroom. In addition, the kitchen and maintenance areas were furnished with new equipment. Puerto Rico Head Start Program COLA ARRA monies were distributed to employees on their paycheck as an economic stimulus during FY 2009-2010. Fifty percent of the Quality Improvement monies were allocated as an incentive to 57 teachers, 57 teachers aides, three itinerant assistants, 11 Social Workers and 2 Family and Community Facilitators. Fringe Benefits were also paid to all 130 employees. $394,881 dollars from Quality Funds were used to improve quality by renovating facilities and replacement of equipment to assure a healthy and safe environment for both children and staff. Not all funds awarded were expended. There was a balance of $16,046.33 un-expended as follow: $7,875.38 for Puerto Rico Head Start and $8,170.95 for Brooklyn Head Start.
