This application is funded as follows: 2009 Transit Capital Assistance Grants-Urbanized Area funding Program.
This grant applies the 2009 ARRA Formula allocation of
$1,388,750.00 (from the Governor's Apportionment in Puerto Rico) for transit enhancements, vehicle expansion, and a new small terminal in Barinas Ward.
We will purchase approximately 2 buses (<30 ft), 2 paratransit vans, and 5 passengers vans aproximately 16-28 foot. A Federal ratio of 100/0 will apply. These buses will meet the Clean Air Act Standards and the American Disability Act (ADA) requirements. The fleet status of TEAM has been updated to reflect this addition. The Municipality of Yauco certifies that we are able to operate and maintain the vehicle expansion.
In this project we will also purchase 15 shelters for the bus routes of Rio Prieto, and Almacigo Alto and Bajo Wards to enhancement public transportation system and bike racks will be installed at the of Public Transportation Terminal
In addition we will design and build a mini terminal in Bo. Barinas. This project is also funded under grant number PR-96-X002. The Barinas Public Terminal will be located at C-6 Yauco Map Zone. The proposed project site is property of the Municipality of Yauco, and has always been used as a supermarket parking lot and no dangerous or hazardous materials have been detected in the site. The structure will consist of a level parking/ garage/ building. It will provide parking for approximately 10 vehicles, one office and waiting area, restrooms (bathrooms) and a storage room. Total area of the building will be approximately 525 square feetÆs. Approximately 10 public transportation vehicles will be operating from this Terminal on a schedule from 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. providing for adjustments according to the citizens needs. The Municipality of Yauco conducted a feasibility transit study which supports this project. See attachment.
The Municipality of Yauco acknowledge it will comply with the provisions applicable to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) funds authorized under Pub. L. 111-5, February 17, 2009, and agrees to comply with the requirements thereof, except to the extent FTA determines otherwise in writing (see conditions of award in grant agreement).
