Project Activities Description Youth Job Training & Employment
Quarterly Activities/Project Description Over the reporting quarter period all twenty seven YouthBuild Graduates who were basic skills deficient in the area of Numeracy and Literacy improved two or more grade levels. In addition five YouthBuild Graduates earn a GED increasing our total count for the year to fourteen GED?s. Currently all 16 Graduates who obtained employment last quarter are still employed with an average hourly rate $9.00 an hour. Eight graduates are attending Post-Secondary Education or a training program. All YouthBuild Graduates have completed Leadership Development and continue to contribute to various Community Service projects. ?Read Now? at Paterson East Park Youthbuilders assisted with distribution of reading books to youth. The 911 Memorial Tribute at Paterson Community Charter School, Youthbuilders participated in cleaning the community garden and planted trees. Altogether the total number of community service hours performed during the reporting quarter is 48 hours of service.

Description of Jobs Created Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the program's goals and objectives are met; coordinating outreach, recruitment, and selection of participants; coordination with our Partnership Council; supervision of program staff; development and implementation of all educational and job training services and activities; implementation of leadership development activities; coordination of counseling and support services; coordination of job placement and post-graduation follow-up; and overall management and evaluation plans. Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for providing career counseling, job placement and follow-up services to program participants. Responsibilities also include assisting with the screening process for each program cycle including; processing applications, testing and interviewing new applicants; providing career counseling and job placement services to all program participants and facilitating life skills workshops and administering assessments, as needed. GED Instructor is responsible for providing classroom instruction to YouthBuild participants in the area of pre-GED and GED preparation; modifying the curriculum and materials as required tomeet individual and program needs; and developing and using creative and innovative teaching techniques to help ensure participant retention and attainment of a high school diploma. Construction Coordinator is responsible for training the participants and providing technical expertise; obtaining construction materials; coordinating crew assignments; and serving as the primary contact for work trade specialists brought in from time to time. Responsibilities also include managing renovation and/or construction of affordable housing units; on-site construction training of trainees; teaching skills necessary to do new construction of an affordable housing unit; and providing support and encouragement in the development of leadership skills. Construction Assistant is responsible for identifying and/or conducting appropriate job training programs for youth; providing support to the Construction Coordinator on the job site and in the classroom; assisting in job searches for youth; developing and maintaining a list or database of local employment opportunities; and providing administrative support to the Program Manager and Youth Development Coordinator.
