RIO RANCHO, CITY OF
Project No. 1 is to develop a City Energy and Sustainability Plan which will assess current city operations, consider growth and recommend an action plan, policy development and performance indicators for sustainable city operations. Project No. 2 is to implement the City Energy and Sustainability Plan. This will consist of hiring consultants to work with City staff to conduct staff meetings and trainings, related plan and policy development, and annual and other report preparation activities with an overall goal of reducing City facility electricity and natural gas use by a minimum of 10% by 2015. Project No. 3 is to hire a consultant to prepare a Comprehensive Bicycle/Pedestrian Transportation Master Plan, which has been completed. This project does not include trail construction. This project will develop a plan to link the City's existing and future network of bicycle and walking paths with parks, schools, neighborhoods and retail. Project No. 4 is server virtualization and consolidation of 30 existing servers into six using virtualization technology to significantly reduce system energy use and server replacement costs. Project No. 5 is for building inspector training, which has been completed. The City would like to adopt the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code and ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standards (2009 IECC) in order to improve energy efficiency of buildings constructed within the City and to provide consistency between State and local building codes. This training will train City inspectors to inspect and enforce the 2009 IECC adopted by the State. Project No. 6 is building lighting retrofits that would allow the City to replace less efficient T-12 lighting ballasts and bulbs in existing lighting fixtures with T-8 ballasts and bulbs or LED's. Identified fixtures will be replaced at the Police Department and the Meadowlark Senior Center by a contractor and building maintenance staff will retrofit T-12 fixtures at smaller facilities with few fixtures beginning in fiscal year 2011 over the remaining grant period until all have been replaced. Project No. 7 is to retrofit the Santa Ana Star Center roof with a cool roof application, which has also been completed. The remaining funds of $1,542.33 are not going to be spent by the City because there are not sufficient funds to retrofit another City building because it would require the services of an electrician.

All projects were complete and goals were accomplished by September 30, 2012; however, the City had not calculated all of the administrative costs and one final draw down had to be performed in October 2012. The final draw down of $411.75 represented the final administrative costs and the projects have all been closed. The remaining funds of $1,542.33 will not be utilized by the City because the services of an electrician would be required to retrofit additional buildings and there are not sufficient funds with which to do this. |
