Quarterly Activities/Project Description In September 2009, DSS distributed $2,218,080.00 to child care contractors based on attendance during the first quarter of the 2009 calendar year. The amount was based on the number of children for whom the contractor was paid. As of June 30, 2010, $1,436,233.00 has been distributed to parents for co-pays and additional days. Children & Families First received $161,628.51 for Teach Scholarships. DSS through the Department of Education and University of Delaware funded $217,632.00 to the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood (DIEEC), Delaware Stars for Early Success Quality Rating and Improvement system. The funds supported 1 full-time position, two part-time positions were created, and programs for quality improvements.
