Title: Stimulus Package Engineering and Design Disposal Areas 13A, 13B, 14A, and 14B Bank Protection, Savannah Harbor Description: This Scope of Work (SOW) requires the A-E to design and develop plans and specifications to protect the shoreline along the Savannah River and adjacent to Disposal Areas 13A, 13B, 14A, and 14B from further erosion. The new shoreline protection will need to smoothly and uniformly tie into existing sections of shoreline protection previously placed. The total length for Area 13A is estimated to be about 6,670 feet, placed in two segments or contiguous sections of 4,535 feet, and 2,135 feet. The total length for Area 13B is estimated to be about 3,320 feet placed in one segment or contiguous section. The total length for Area 14A is estimated to be about 1,348 feet placed in two segments or contiguous sections of 572 feet and 776 feet respectively. The total length for Area 14B is estimated to be about 8,660 feet to be placed in one contiguous section. The material to be used for erosion protection will be graded granite aggregate and armor stone placed to a top elevation not to exceed +13 mean lower low water (MLLW). The design wave height shall be 6.5 feet. The A-E shall also design and develop plans and specifications to incorporate the protection of existing marsh (where practicable and coordination with the District), the staging areas required to perform the work, coordination of stockpile areas for rock or other protection materials, site access routes, and all other requirements necessary to complete the work. In addition, the shore protection will need to be installed around and with due care and consideration of three existing 12-inch diameter HDPE outfall pipes. The new work for Areas 13A and 13B shall incorporate adequate protection for the underdrain pipes.
