COMMUNITY ACTION MARIN
The award provides for ARRA Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) and Quality Improvement funding consistent with the provision of Section 640(a)(5) of the Head Start Act for the Head Start and Early Head Start program. Head Start promotes the school readiness of low income children through the provision of comprehensive health, development and family services. The funded allowed for additional education and professional development for staff resulting in more effective outcomes for children. The funding also provided extra hours for mental health consultation to support the parents, children and staff. Staff participated by taking additional college courses in teaching yough children and in working with children is poverty. Family Advocates earned the Family Service Credential through Cornell that helped them better support families in crisis and to support parents in their parenting role leading to more success for the children.
