MASSACHUSETTS, COMMONWEALTH OF
Construction of the Franklin Regional Transit Authority's Intermodal Transportation Center. The Franklin Regional Transit Center will be a transportation hub for Franklin County that will provide centralized public and private transit, paratransit, and future passenger rail services to Franklin County. The Center will also house the offices of the Franklin Regional Transit Authority and Franklin Regional Council of Governments. The transit center building, at approximately 24,000 square feet, is being designed to exceed platinum LEED standards and to be a net zero energy consumption building. It is expected to be the first green public building in Massachusetts and one of the first green transit centers in the country. The Center is located within the Greenfield Bank Row Urban Renewal Zone and is part of the Greenfield Bank Row Priority Development Site. Construction of the Transit Center will be the first project within the Urban Renewal Zone and is expected to be a catalyst for additional investment and redevelopment in downtown Greenfield.
