Funding from the Recovery Act Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program Grants utilized to provide funding for two contract employees who began work during the first quarter of 2010 has ended. These contract employees provided essential support to sworn officers and members of the task force making the RICAC, Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force one of the most productive in the country. Cases are completed in a timely manner and backlogs are virtually non-existent. This success would not have been possible without our Forensic Analyst who has proven to be a valuable asset to the RI State Police Computer Crimes Unit. Recognizing the need of a fulltime Forensic Analyst, funding within the State Police Budget has been allocated to secure this position. The ICAC Grant Manager position has unfortunately been terminated as there is no funding available to maintain the position.
