MARYLAND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE (INC)
The Maryland Environmental Service was awarded a National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program Grant to fund a retrofit/replacment/repower project targeting 42 units of cargo handling equipment; 24 short haul drayage trucks; 10 locomotives; and 3 harbor craft (tug boats) involved in the day-to-day operations at the Port of Baltimore. The general purpose of the grant is to reduce diesel emissions and improve air quality.

Two dray truckers were unable to come up with matching funds for a truck replacement and an engine repower. Another dray trucker never installed diesel oxidation catalysts on three trucks as originally planned.
One terminal company never repowered all cargo handling equipment as originally planned. |
