PUBLIC HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, MONTANA DEPARTMENT OF
ARRA 317 Supplemental Reaching More Children & Adults - Funding to support states and communities in establishing and maintaining preventive health service programs to immumize individuals against vaccine-preventable diseases. The funds will help expand access to vaccines and vaccination services by augmenting current Section 317 activities specifically by: 1) providing financial support to state & local immunization programs; 2) making recommended vaccines available in all states through existing network or private & public immunization providers & supporting & expanding the network of providers as needed; 3) expanding access to influenza, zoser & childhood vaccines through school-assocaited immunization programs & through innovatiave vaccine delivery activities in the community; 4) provide grants to immunization programs to conduct needs assessments and develop plans that will enable health departments to bill private insurance for immunization services provided to insurance plan members; 5) increase national public awareness & knowledge about the benefits & risks of vaccines & vaccine-preventable diseases and 6) enhance assessments of vaccine coverage, vaccine inpact, vaccine effectiveness & vaccine advaerse events.

An Immunization Information System (IIS) is the main source of data that the state program and health care providers have which allows them to meet their objectives of improved innumization rates and reduced disease burden. On November 14, 2011, the Montana Immunization Program went live with a customized version of the State of Maine's version of the Wisconsin Immunization Registry. The system has now been in place for over six weeks and is experiencing no major technical problems. This project finished on-schedule. |
