Description of Jobs Created This administrative supplement will advance the objectives of the ARRA, directly by creation and retention of jobs, and indirectly by investing in equipment and materials for studying temporal bones. Because of the severe economic downturn, the Otopathology laboratory at the Univ. of Minnesota is in danger of closing, and laying off its technical and scientific personnel. Such closure would have severe, deleterious long-term consequences for otopathology research in the US (and the world), since otopathology research expertise is in extreme short supply and takes decades to establish. In fact, the Minnesota laboratory is one of only 4 active otopathology laboratories in the world that can processes human temporal bones for light microscopy (celloidin-embedding) and other techniques. MEEI new employee is instrumental in establishing the high definition virtual microscopy system, making it widely avaiable to other consortium laboratories. Is acting as the coordinator between Minnesota and MEEI regarding TSLIM imaging, and comparing the post-processing of image data with histology.
