BRISTOL BAY HEALTH CORPORATION
The $78,700 received by Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation from A.R.R.A. for the acquisition of a Zeiss H.D. Cirrus O.C.T. has been spent and this wonderful piece of equipment was acquired in January 2010 and installed February 10, 2010. I have used this piece of equipment on 22 patients thus far, beginning February 11, 2010; with an allowable reimbursement of $84.40 for each bilateral use. The O.C.T. has increased the accuracy with which I have been able to diagnose and treat glaucoma, multiple times, and has been tremendously helpful in distinguishing a full thickness macular hole from a partial thickness macular hole, which is important in determining appropriate treatment. The technology that this piece of equipment brings to the Bristol Bay region is welcomed and much appreciated. Through the use of this O.C.T., the optometry department has been able to save the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation money that would have been spent sending patients to Anchorage for the use of this same technology. This is the final report for this project. The equipment is in place and being utilized regularly.
