MC ALLEN, CITY OF
The City of McAllen's Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) will invest in two subgrantees to undertake the program. The City will also retain funds to implement the program. The purpose of the project is to prevent homelessness and stabilize homeless persons and families by providing subsidy payments for renters including utility payments, deposits or fees. Funds will be used to provide homeless assistance activities including housing-related costs and stabilization services. Additional funds will be used for data collection and administration. Individuals and households may be assisted for a period of up to 18 months, depending on need. Persons assisted must be homeless or threatened with homelessness and meet income and programmatic criteria.

The City entered into subgrantee agreements for HPRP implementation with Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement (VIDA) and Valley AIDS Council, Inc. (VAC) to provide services to qualified households. It was intended that approximately 200 individuals and households would be assisted with HPRP ARRA funds. Five hundred seventeen persons (comprised of one hundred seventy-seven households) have been assisted since program inception. VIDA expended $320,484.62 since prorgam inception; $15,286.78 was paid this quarter. Balance of their revised allocation ($330,500) was recaptured and expended by the City. Their original allocation was $456,000 allocation. VAC has expended $184,843.64 since program inception; $0 was paid this quarter. Their original allocation was $150,000. It was increased to $190,000 during the award period. Balance of project was recaptured and expended by the City. The City has expended $228,189.74 since program inception; $2,241.64 was expended this quarter. The City's original set-aside was $127,518. All funds have been drawn and expended. |
