WARWICK, CITY OF
One goal of the Warwick Police Department is to enhance training among personnel. A second department goal is to upgrade and/or replace outdated equipment. A third department goal is to provide additional manpower resources on the street to deal with chronic neighborhood complaints during peak times.
Training for specialized personnel has included the Crisis Intervention Team, Peer Support Group and supervisors.
Refurbished equipment includes purchases for the evidence room, the traffic division and the police boat. A major equipment purchase which resulted in upgrade for the department is referred to as the AVID system which provides software and hardware that enhances audio and video surveillance tapes. It also clarifies video, image, and latent print evidence. Ammunition for additional training for enhanced job proficiency has also been purchased.
The city continues to implement a neighborhood hot spot program with additional officers assigned during the holiday period.

| Infrastructure Purpose and Rationale |
The city has purchased an AVID recording system which is a software and hardware system that allows police officers to enhance audio and video surveillance tapes. There are some detectives that have been trained in using this system and use this technology frequently. This system clarifies video, image and latent print evidence. It is one of the most widely used forensic video, image and audio evidence clarification systems available. This purchse was made using these funds to stabilize the police local budgets and to minimize reductions for essential services. |
