"Bilateral cochlear implants: physiology and psycholphysics" This administrative supplement requests the hiring of a postdoctoral fellow in
order to investigate the effect of binaurally-coherent jitter on neural ITD sensitivity in bilaterally implanted
deaf animals. This project is motivated by the recent finding that introducing jitter in the timing of pulses
improves the ITD discrimination performance of bilaterally implanted human subjects for electric pulse train stimuli. This is an important finding because ITD sensitivity is poor with the high-rate periodic pulse train carriers used in today's cochlear implant processors.
