KANSAS HOUSING RESOURCES CORP


The Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP) provided grant and/or soft loan funding for capital investment in Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects via a formula-based allocation to State housing credit allocation agencies. Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) received $17,662,798 and has distributed these funds competitively to eight rental housing developments. This program will create 215 rental units and result in a total investment of nearly $32 million in eight Kansas communities. The Recovery Act requires housing credit agencies to distribute TCAP funds competitively, in accordance wiht the Agency's Qualified Allocation Plan. Projects awarded low income housing tax credits in fischal years 2007, 2008, or 2009 are eligible for funding, but the housing credit agency must give priority to those projects that are expected to be completed by February 2012.

Quarterly Activities/Project Description Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) has expended TCAP funds for eight developments, allocating $17,121,110 of its Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP) funding. These developments are located in eight different communities (Kansas City, Wamego, Independence, Bird City, Topeka, Clay Center, Holton, and Wichita) and created 215 affordable housing rental units. All work was completed on the projects: House to Home Bethany, Homestead Senior, McKinley Housing, Fifth Street Apartments, Cornerstone Appartments, Southview Apartments, Mesa Verde, and Apollo Towers.
