LEADS is able to offer Early Head Start services in Licking, Delaware, and Union Counties and we maintain full enrollment each month with a waiting list We have a RN to monitor immunizations and conduct new born home visits. A Mental Health Consultant attends socializations, and visitis the women at ORW (Ohio Reformatory for Women). There are MOU's are in place with the Help Me Grow Programs. All home visitors have been trained in the PAT curriculum (Parents as Teachers),and weekly home visits are being conducted. During these visits activities are planned together with families to foster each child's development, increase family literacy, and promote healthy parent-child relationships. If the mom is pregnant, at the visits, the importance of prenatal care is discussed along with benefits of breat feeding and oral health. The women in the ORW (Ohio Reformatory for Women) are receiving weekly home visits and twice a month the have socializations. We currently have 3 full time Family Service Workers. They are able to make referrals for families, while supporting the families in developing goals. The Family Service Worker for the Women's Reformatory also assits with the transition process. She is able to connect the women with local Early Head Start Programs if they are leaving the county or the state. We also offer each mom at the Reformatory a car seat with they are released. We assist with referring for housing, food, rent, etc. This has been an extremely successful endeaver. The Early Head Start Program has been extremely successful in all three counties. We have families on the waiting list, and help with a smooth transition into Head Start of other local agencies.
Not all funds will be expended. A total of $103,262.60 will remain deobligated. |
