The 2010-2011 school year ended fully enrolled with a total of 168 pregnant women, infants and toddlers being served. The 2011-2012 school year started in August 2011 with full enrollment as well. In July, the Summer Staff Development provided 26 training hours for Early Head Start teachers, program assistants, Site Facilitators, Family Services Specialists and Health Services Specialists staff in July 2011. The Early Head Start team collaborated with the Head Start team for transition of children in Early Head Start into Head Start classrooms. The full array of Early Head Start services were provided to infants, toddlers, parents and pregnant mothers through the center-based program as well as the home-based program July through September 2011. Classroom materials and supplies were updated to ensure not only the environment was healthy and safe, but also to address the individualized needs of the Early Head Start children to promote continued growth and development. The program continued to partner with the Part C provider and collaboratively serve children with disabilities in center-based and home-based programs.
The grant period closed Setpember 30, 2011 and the expansion classes and funding became part of the permanent Head Start grant 06CH0391.
The ARRA funds were not fully spent in the area of salaries/benefits due to vacancies and turnaround time for n ew hires during the contract year. In addition, we had a planned bathroom renovation at the Sherman EHS location and the maintenance team did not give us an estimate in adequate time for the items to be completed. |
