TECHNOLOGY & INFORMATION, DELAWARE DEPT OF
The Delaware Department of Technology and Information (DTI) will oversee the broadband mapping data collection and verification, including public anchor institution information, and the development of an interactive state broadband inventory mapping system. The resulting data will be presented to NTIA per their specifications and also made available to the public from a user friendly website. DTI will leverage existing IT infrastructure, and will partner with the University of Delaware's Information for Public Administration (UD-IPA) to achieve the overall NTIA goals. The longer term broadband planning activities will be carried out by DTI in partnership with UD-IPA. Relationships will be built with Technology Planning Teams comprised of representativies from local governments, small businesses, and agricultural communities. These teams will be formed in parallel with mapping activities and will continue for the full 5 years of the program. They will identify (1) broadband best practices for their community; (2) issues affecting the deployment and full use of broadband; and (3) potential projects to expand the use and deployment of broadband in these communities.

Delaware's broadband sponsor and team continued to meet bi-weekly in the first quarter of 2013. The existing Broadband Website is used for demonstration of functionality and as a base for future Broadband Planning discussions. The first bi-annual data update was completed on April 1st. The process continues to be completed in a timely fashion and the quality of data is good. The Application and Maintenance project, "Broadband Mapping II Systems Enhancements", approved by National Telecommications and Information Administration,(NTIA), is in progress and the planning phase was completed. The functional specifications were reviewed and a choice of vendor has been reccommended by the application development team. The execution phase of the initiative is being initiated and going through the priority process. Improvements to the broadband enviroment are being reviewed and planned. The remaining projects approved under Delaware's grant will be reviewed and a determination will be made if they will be pursued. Delaware will be setting up a meeting in the second quarter of 2014 to discuss the projects with NTIA. |
