Project Activities Description Crime Control & Prevention
Quarterly Activities/Project Description Our department continued its efforts of completing each project using supplemental funds during this period. Project 1 was initiated by enforcing Town-by laws in the high crime areas to make our neighborhoods feel safer and allow the landlords to continuing renting their properties. A new town-bylaw was initiated which allowed us to enforce landlords to keep their properties clean. Landlords are now responsible for trash/rubbish left on their property. A team of officers were assembled to enforce new town bylaw and cite owners, in an effort to clean up neighborhoods, reduce fear of crime and stimulate the rental economy. We have seen a significant difference in the neighborhoods being kept clean by property owners. Project 2 we were able to continue our Cops N Kids Friday Night Program for children 10-16. Project 3 We had officers patrolling the downtown district, library and park areas during the winter months, allowing residents to feel safe. Project 4 was completed which added two new laptop computers to our patrol cruisers to assist in enforcing motor vehicle violations. Radar units were purchased to continue downtown motor vehicle enforcement.
