NEVADA HEALTH CENTERS, INC.
This grant award to Nevada Health Centers, Inc. (NVHC) is for two construction projects whose asset value will improve patient outcomes, provide space for expanded services, and improve the financial stability of our agency. The project will improve efficiency, quality and access by combining our administrative offices with two health center sites. One site is in Carson City, NV and the other is in Las Vegas, NV. The goals for the project are:
1. Address Community Needs
NVHC will construct a family centered medical office in Carson City and an OB/GYN facility in Las Vegas for at least 9,000 patients.
In Carson City, capacity and services will be increased by adding space for mental health and dental care.
In Las Vegas, capacity will be increased for pregnant women at our OB site in a county that has recently closed its Pregnancy Center with no plan for uninsured pregnant women. We will design and construct administrative space that will enhance public access and provide adequate space for administrative functions including but not limited to information technology, finance and billing, human resources and development.
2. Improve Effectiveness & Efficiency
Space will be designed to improve patient flow, electronic health record utilization, patient privacy and patient education.
Our employee training program, the NVHC University, will have space for employee training in areas such as electronic health records, quality assurance, risk management, billing and patient outcomes.
3. Improve Quality of Care & Patient Outcomes
These newly constructed buildings will improve our ability to provide health care in a safe environment that will be timely, patient centered and equitable.
The space will be designed to increase health education access, collaboration among all staff, shared decision making and knowledge of patient outcomes.
4. Promote Economic Recovery
Economic recovery benefits will help the flailing construction industry in Nevada. We estimate that constructing two new buildings will provide 58 construction related jobs in Nevada. The ability to own these two new facilities instead of continuing to lease space for them will save NVHC annual lease expenses of over $470,820.

Nevada Health Centers, Inc. (NVHC) building project for Sierra Health Center and our Carson City Administration Office is complete. We received our Certificate of Occupancy in April, 2012. Our administrative offices moved into the new building (2nd floor) on May 19, 2012...opening on May 21, 2012. Our new Sierra Nevada Health Center moved into the new building (1st floor) on June 2, 2012 with the first patients being seen on June 4, 2012.
Construction of NVHC's new Martin Luther King Health Center and our Las Vegas administration office building is complete. We received our Certificate of Occupancy in March, 2012. Our administrative offices moved into the new building (2nd floor) on April 14, 2012 with the first day of operations being April 16, 2012. Our family practice and pediatric services moved into the new building (1st floor) on April 28, 2012 with the first patients being seen on April 30, 2012. In addition, our OB/GYN services moved into the new building on May 5, 2012 with the first patients being seen on May 7, 2012. We held a successful Grand Opening on Monday, June 11, 2012 with approximately 350 people in attendance, including several local dignitaries and HRSA representatives.
All HRSA closeout deliverables and documentation has now been completed. |
