High Energy Physics--Advanced Technology R&D Augmentation (Project code 2005170) Work Authorization Number KA/CH12/9/ARRA-1
This modification is issued to obligate American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) of 2009 funds for the purpose of support for the Advanced Technology R&D Augmentation Project -- Large-Area Fast Photo-Detectors Program to advance accelerator and detector technologies for particle physics research. Specifically, fund research and development effort for Large-area Fast Photo Detectors. Additional support is provided for Sueprconducting Radio Frequency R&D at Argonne National Laboratory for the performance of atomic lay deposition (ALD) of various superconducting materials on the inside of SRF cavities with the intent of increasing the accelerating gradient produced by SRF cavities by carefully controlled deposition of these materials. These cavities will then be shipped to Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility for testing.

Work on the Large Area Picosecond Photodetector (PD): All milestones for this project have been completed and a close out report is in preparation. Superconducting RV cavities work: Successful growth of FeSe, FeTe, NbSe and NbTe using custom made precursors in collab with IIT chemist. This attempt to grow Chalcogenide superconductors relies on their ability to maintain superconducting properties in very high magnetic fields.The growth of MgB2 using MgCp2 and Diborane of TriEthylBorane did not work as expected. More reactive Custom precursors of Mg is being sytthesized by IIT.
