ARLINGTON, COUNTY OF GOVT
The purpose of this award is to implement Arlington County's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy, which is reduce total energy use through improved energy efficiency in the buildings and transportation sectors, while creating jobs. Arlington County will retrofit traffic signals and street lights with energy-efficient LED technology. The county will also perform energy efficiency retrofits and upgrades in several County buildings, and install a substantial (e.g. 50 kW) solar photovoltaic system, likely at its Central Library. In addition, we will conduct outreach and training to residential, commercial, and institutional sectors in the county to encourage energy efficiency and conservation. Arlington will actively engage trade allies (energy auditors, retrofitters, HVAC contractors, realtors and others) to help build a comprehensive network of professionals to maximize energy activity in the community.
