WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY RESEARCH CORPORATION
The Industrial Assessment Certer (IAC)Program at West Virginia University provides eligible manufacturers with comprehensive industrial assessments performed at no cost to the manufacturer, while providing engineering students with hands-on educational opportunities and training in manufacturing plants. Teams of engineering faculty and students from the IAC will conduct assessments at manufacturing facilities and provide technical assistance to manufacturers to help them identify opportunities to save energy, improve productivity and reduce waste. Through the ARRA funding the following tasks will be undertaken: Enhanced Assessments - will be performed for new IAC clients (defined as IAC clients that have not had an assessment in at least 5 years or Energy Saving Assessments clients that are appropriate candidates for a full assessment. In addition to regular IAC type assessments, the enhanced assessments may include activities such as partnership with state government and utilities to assist the client in cost savings, including rebates; pre-assessment surveys targeted at small to medium sized industrial facilities; or multiple day assessments for larger facilities with additional pre-assessment information to target projects where the clients would require additional asistance inimplementing energy efficiency strategies. Technical Assistance (TA) events will be performed for previous IAC clients that have implementation results in the IAC database. the TA events will provide additional support to increase adoption of recommended savings opporotunities over and above the past assessment implementation results.
