| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
Pilot verification testing program for six major appliance types in support of DOE's ENERGY STAR Program. Products covered include refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers, dishwashers, room air conditioners, and water heaters (tankless and storage types). Activities include product selection, test labe selection, purchasing and testing products, technical reporting, and product disposal.
NETL and DOE's Appliances and Commercial Equipment Standards and ENERGY STAR® Programs have requested assistance with verification testing of appliance manufacturers claimed efficiency ratings. Activities include product selection, test lab selection, purchasing and testing products, technical reporting, and product disposal.
DOE test procedures for appliances and commercial equipment that are subject to federally mandated energy-conservation standards (?Covered Products?). The team will perform an in-depth evaluation of the subject test procedures to detail the weaknesses in the test procedures, develop recommendations for revisions and quantify the potential benefits. The team will also assist DOE-NETL with developing a prioritized list of test-procedure revisions and scheduling a rulemaking timetable that accelerates compliance with the EISA 2007 requirement referenced above.
