AREVA FEDERAL SERVICES LLC
AREVA will assess and evaluate existing strategies for managing electricity generated by wind in control-room operations and make recommendations that guide the development of business processes and decisions support tools that support the effective use of wind forecasts to facilitate increased wind penetration. We will capture the experience of European grid operators who manage significantly higher levels of wind generation integration than currently seen in the U.S., while also recognizing the differences in the European experience (e.g., closer to loads and often at the distribution level of the power grid). We will identify how forecasting and control-room systems can enhance reserve capabilities through reserve sharing and management of reserves from native sources, including dynamic loads and wind-plants.
