SAVANNAH RIVER NUCLEAR SOLUTIONS LLC
In support of Hanford’s AY-102 Tank waste transfer to the WTP facility, SRNL will perform scaled testing to evaluate the batch consistency of the multi-batch transfer process to be used in transferring the waste. This is follow-up work to testing recently performed by SRNL on Tank AY-102 mixing studies. The objective of this testing is to observe and document the qualitative aspects of the scaled batch transfers, including observations of variations in batch to batch transfers of solids, the ratios of the solids transferred per batch (light/heavy), general trends in batch solids loading during the transfer, and any maintenance and operational concerns for proper batch transfer operations. Additionally, the affect of process variations on the amount of solids removed will be evaluated. This work will result in a final report, reviewed and concurred with by the Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) task lead. This demonstration will provide fundamental information necessary to develop the WRPS scaled mixing/sampling demonstration plan.
