Infrastructure Purpose and Rationale	The purpose of the Winchendon water transmission main upgrade is to provide a more secure water main which is easier to maintain and that allows better analysis of the piping for improvements in efficiency. The purpose of the distribution system upgrades near Old Winchendon Center are the same but will also provide better quality water and improve supplied pressure and flow to the residences of Old Center and the Winchendon Health Center.The work above is intended to address the requirements of a Department of Environmental Protection, Administrative Consent Order, which was issued due to noncompliance within the drinking water system.
