LEHIGH AND NORTHAMPTON TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY
As a recipient of ARRA funds LANTA will invest in public transportation. 1. Purchased and received 20 mini vans with an expected useful service life of five years or 100,000 miles. The vehicles replaced were purchased in 2001 or prior, have in excess of 150,000 miles in service and have met their useful service life of five years or 100,000 miles. 2. Purchased five heavy duty/hybrid transit buses for system expansion, each with an expected useful service life of 12 years. This purchase was necessary to support LANTA's growth plan and meet ridership projections (about a five percent increase per year) and the LANTA strategic plan to expand and improve the transit system. 3. Purchased and implemented a Real Time Passenger Information System and Automated Vehicle Location / Information System on the LANtaBus System and Design. 4. Transit enhancements. Installed shelters and made visually friendly upgrades to the Allentown Transit Center. 5. Design a State-of-the-Art maintenance garage, bus storage and administration facility at LANta's Allentown Operation Headquarters. The proposed maintenance facility is designed to accommodate existing, as well a future LANta fleet needs, and is part of LANta's long-range vision and service development program that will guide the agency's efforts over the next five to ten years. 6. Miscellaneous security equipment has been purchased and security system improvements have been made in and about LANta's facilities in Allentown and Easton. Security cameras and access control equipment will be the major components of the work to be completed. 7. Provide preventative maintenance support for the LANta fiscal year beginning July 1, 2009.
