NANOSCALE MATERIALS, INC.
Odor Control in Spacecraft Waste Management. Development of a sorbent for destructive adsorption of malodorous compounds, in particular sulfides (e.g. hydrogen sulfide), volatile carboxylic acids (e.g. butyric acid), and amines (e.g. skatole, which is responsible for some of the odor of feces, and putrescine, responsible for some of the odor of spoiled protein). This sorbent, a formulation of nanocrystalline metal oxides, will be a key component of a waste storage system, and also of a water recovery system.
