The project includes engineering, design, and permitting for restoration of surrounding floodplain areas and relocation of an existing small stream in Cranston, Rhode Island. The existing stream alignment exiting out of Blackamore Pond is routed into an undersized culvert passing through a residential neighborhood. NRCS, in consultation with Town officials and engineering consultants have determined that relocating the stream from the culvert and having it flow diretly into the Pocasset River is the best alternative to solve the flooding problem in this area. Property surrounding the stream is owned by the City of Cranston, RI and comprised of wetlands and property which cannot be developed. Deliverables for this project include land surveying, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, a geotechnical investigation, 30 percent designs, 60 percent designs, permitting documentation, and bidding documentation (i.e., 100 percent designs, specifications, and project manual).
