| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
To date, 865 participants have been served, 571 have completed training and received a credential, and 330 have been placed in employment (58%). We have 100% placement in our Pharmacy Technician program. Our retention numbers have increased due to the new strategy we implemented last quarter. This involves calling our employers directly to find out if participants are still employed rather than relying on participants? responses. We are also sending out a stronger message through our text messaging which has resulted in a greater response rate from participants.
All of the programs developed under the grant will be retained by the college. The Health Support Specialist program will not be retained in its current delivery model, but it will be adapted to an online format and be shared through a partnership with three other MnSCU colleges. If legislation is passed to support this new model of care and training for long-term care staff, then the curriculum will probably do much better than it is currently.
ABE continues to offer the Discover Healthcare course on the Faribault campus. In North Mankato they continue to run the Life Online and College Prep courses. Our workforce placement coordinator assisted 49 students with workforce readiness (resume and cover letter assistance and mock interviews), provided workshops to seven different classes, helped over 150 participants with job searches, attended nine promotion events, and shared over 600 job posts with participants. In April we will be partnering with our industry partners to host our second annual Health Symposium. Over 50 employers and 200 participants have been invited to attend.
