The five purposes of the Recovery Act are: 1) To preserve & create jobs and promote economc recovery. 2) To assist those affected negatively by the recession. 3) To provide investments needed to increase economic efficiency by spuring technological advances. 4) To invest in transportation infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefits. 5) to stabilize State and local government budgets, in order to minimize reductions in esential services and counterproductive State & local tax increases. NJ TRANSIT's purpose for this project is indicatated by the above numbering: Energy Efficient Air Compressor Systems purpose is 1, 2,3 & 5. The rationale for this project is: 1) Project is ready to go; and 2) Project could not have been implemented without supplemental funding. |
