| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
*Division I - +/- 16,400 LF, 20? diameter ductile iron water main that will connect to
an existing 20? main just west of the Chapman Road and Echo Valley Road
intersection. It will then leave Chapman Road going south along the Railroad right-ofway
and then go under the Railroad at Nye Spring Road. The line will follow along the
western side of Nye Spring Road back to Chapman Road. It will then go northwest with
Chapmen Road to the intersection at Malin Drive. Then it will travel north to Main
Street. From there it will travel in Main Street through Town to the intersection of Main
Street and 12th Street. The water line will be connected to an existing 20? water main at
the intersection of 12th Street and Spring Street.
The purpose of the improvements is to increase water transmission capability through
the Town?s water distribution network. It will allow the Town to replace undersized and
deteriorating waterlines within the proposed construction area. It will greatly improve
water service to the downtown Wytheville area.
*Division II - A separate division of the Project will include repainting and minor repairs
to the two welded steel water tanks located on Pine Ridge. A water mixing system will
be installed in both tanks to ensure water turn-over and improve the water quality in the
Town?s water distribution network. |
