| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
The CREATES initiative builds training and employment services into a regional career pathways system in energy-efficient building, construction and retrofitting; and the energy efficiency assessment industry. CREATES deploys comprehensive knowledge of construction and energy systems techniques drawn from public, private, and non-profit sectors to provide workers with the skills needed to succeed. The ETP funds are being used to upgrade existing regional training programs and develop and implement new curriculum components to provide training participants with preferred education, work experience and certifications that demonstrate mastery of energy efficiency practices for established and emerging occupations in Western Virginia. Projected deliverables included 320 participants completing education/training activities, and 250 trained participants placed into unsubsidized employment related to their training. As of September 30, 2012, 568 CREATES participants have been enrolled into training activities, 287 trained participants have been placed into unsubsidized employment related to their training and 396 new and incumbent workers have been placed into unsubsidized employment as a result of the training. Because the grant term ended July 15, 2012, third quarter 2012 activities primarily included initiating grant closeout procedures. |
