OU CES will facilitate the school through the Effective School Process by conducting needs assessments, developing residential and academic leadership teams and strategic planning, facilitating leadership trainings, and providing research-based professional development for the school as determined by administration and staff. OU CES will provide bi-monthly trainings for the residential staff members in the areas of De-escalation/Conflict Resolution, Substance Abuse Issues, Ethics, Parenting Skills/Child Care, Special Education and Working with Students with Disabilities, Student Supervision Skills, Child Development, Basic Counseling Skills, and Continuity of Operations Plan. Residential and academic staff members will be better prepared to provide effective supervision, assistance, and a quality education for the students by receiving these services. OU CES is part of the Public and Community Services division within the University of Oklahoma Outreach College of Continuing Education. OU CES founded in 1999, is one of only five nationally-recognized Effective School Centers in the United States. The Effective Schools Model is accepted as one of the research-based School Reform Models by the Northwest Regional Laboratory. OU CES has successfully worked with over 50 schools in Oklahoma and across the country in improving student achievement. Effective Schools is based on the philosophy that 'all children can learn.'
